Medical Science Liaison – Oncology: Job Overview

The Medical Science Liaison will serve as a scientific expert and primary scientific interface with KOLs in the Oncology therapeutic area. The role involves discussing treatment trends, clinical trial data, scientific developments, and gathering external insights that can support the company’s medical strategy.

The position is highly field-oriented and requires approximately 70–80% travel to interact with healthcare professionals, KOLs, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, mapping, and profiling Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within the assigned geography and Oncology therapeutic area.
  • Building and maintaining scientific engagement with identified KOLs through Medical Affairs initiatives.
  • Representing the Oncology therapeutic area on relevant cross-functional teams and internal and external initiatives.
  • Gathering customer and stakeholder insights and communicating them to the franchise team.
  • Receiving and processing scientific information requests from Healthcare Professionals (HCPs).
  • Supporting the sales organization as a scientific resource for the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Providing regular scientific training and sharing relevant medical developments with internal teams.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and implement medical strategy.
  • Supporting initiatives related to the external scientific landscape and access to new products or indications.
  • Maintaining strong scientific, professional, and compliant interactions with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Johnson & Johnson is looking for candidates with one of the following educational backgrounds:

  • PharmD
  • PhD

Experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Understanding of the Medical Affairs function.

  • Understanding of industry codes of practice related to:

    • Clinical research
