Job Overview:
As a Clinical Data Coder 1 at IQVIA, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality management of clinical data. You will be responsible for performing Clinical Data Management (CDM) and coding activities, serving as a key member of the Data Management team. This role may involve leadership responsibilities in coding tasks or specific CDM assignments.
Essential Functions:
- Serve independently as a Clinical Data Coder and/or Lead Coder or Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for one or more protocols.
- Manage coding activities and standalone coding projects through the full study life-cycle with minimal guidance.
- Validate and test the coding application and programming of coding reports.
- Conduct data review, resolve data clarifications, and perform comprehensive coding-related tasks.
- Manage project timelines related to coding with guidance from the DOC or Data Team Lead (DTL).
- Perform Serious Adverse Event (SAE) reconciliation activities.
- Serve as a backup for Lead Coder, DOC, or DTL as needed.
- Implement quality control procedures and assist with new technology implementations.
- Develop and propose solutions for coding and project-related challenges.
- Handle audit requirements for studies and stand-alone coding projects.
- Ensure compliance with core operating procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain good communication and working relationships with the team.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Pharmacy, Dental, Medical, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related field (or educational equivalent).
- 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminologies, pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
- In-depth understanding of medical dictionaries used for coding (e.g., MedDRA, WHODD).
- Knowledge of the Data Management process, from study start-up to database lock.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Understanding of database technologies related to data management and coding.
- Knowledge of operating procedures and ability to apply them in practice.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and clients.
