Cotiviti is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Coder II with a specialty in Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding, which directly impacts healthcare quality and cost management.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Any life science or paramedical graduate.
- 1 to 3 years of work experience in medical coding, with a minimum of 1 year in HCC coding specialty.
- Active coding credential from AAPC (CRC, CPC, COC) or AHIMA (CCS) is mandatory.
- Minimum 60% throughout academics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records and code or validate ICD-10 CM codes based on official coding guidelines, coding clinics, client-specific guidelines, CMS, and other regulatory compliance mandates.
- Perform abstraction for various projects, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial.
- Maintain a minimum quality standard of 95% accuracy or higher.
- Adhere to productivity standards based on project requirements.
- Comply with HIPAA and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Identify trends in coding and documentation errors.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologies.
- Proficient in ICD-10 CM conventions, general and chapter-specific coding guidelines, and coding clinic updates.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and flexibility to work rotational shifts.
- Ability to work independently and maintain positive working relationships.
- Attention to detail and proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
