We’re currently recruiting for experienced Medical Coders specializing in Emergency Department (ED) coding, surgery, and radiology. Key Responsibilities:
As a Medical Coder at Vee Healthtek, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Accurate and Timely Coding: Reviewing medical records, assigning accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensuring timely submission of claims. Accuracy is paramount, and we will provide you with the training and resources to excel in this critical role.
- Quality Assurance: Maintaining high standards of coding accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA regulations. This involves regular audits and quality checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Working effectively within a team of medical coders and other healthcare professionals to share knowledge, resolve issues, and maintain efficiency. We foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Maintaining Up-to-Date Knowledge: Staying abreast of the latest changes and updates in medical coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices. Continuing education opportunities will be provided to support your professional growth.
- Data Entry and Management: Efficiently entering and managing coding data into our electronic health record (EHR) system. We utilize industry-leading technology to streamline the coding process and enhance accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: 1-5 years of experience in medical coding in a hospital or healthcare setting. Experience in emergency department (ED) coding is highly preferred.
- Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CRC (Certified Radiology Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) certification is mandatory.
- Specialties: Experience in coding for Emergency Department (ED) procedures, surgery, and/or radiology is highly desirable. However, coders with experience in other areas are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants may be involved with multiple specialties.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in various medical coding software packages is beneficial, though on-the-job training will be provided for our systems.
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to critically analyze medical records, identify and resolve coding discrepancies, and make sound judgments based on coding guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: A commitment to accuracy and precision in all aspects of the job.
- Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals.
