When changing jobs, use your existing UAN correctly and check how the previous member account is connected with the new employment. A PF transfer is different from withdrawing money. Before filing anything, inspect the current portal and records so you do not submit a duplicate request for a transfer already under way.
Check the records first
Confirm your name, identity details, previous member ID, new member ID and employment dates. Share your existing UAN with the new employer through its authorised onboarding process. If details do not match, ask for the appropriate correction rather than creating another identity record to work around the problem.
Follow the current EPFO route
Start at EPFO's official website and access member services. Check transfer status and the options shown for your account. Earlier instructions frequently describe employer attestation as mandatory for every transfer. An EPFO announcement from April 2025 describes removal of employer approval in the majority of cases and simplified processing. Do not assume either that every transfer needs approval or that every case is fully automatic.
If the portal requires a request, inspect the source and destination details before submitting it. Keep the acknowledgement and claim reference. Where a trust or another special arrangement is involved, ask for the applicable transfer process and documents rather than forcing the case into an unrelated online option.
Verify completion, not just submission
Check the destination account and service-related records. A submitted or approved request and a visible transfer entry are different stages. The official Passbook Lite and Annexure K announcement describes tools that can help members inspect their records and transfer information.
If a transfer is stuck
Record the claim number, last status, relevant member IDs and any specific error. Ask payroll whether a correction is pending, then use the official EPFO grievance route if necessary. Do not repeatedly submit the same request without understanding the existing status. Avoid publishing full member records in public groups.
For a pharma employee moving from agency payroll to direct employment, identify both legal employers accurately. The job may be at the same physical site while the payroll entity and member account change. Keeping joining, relieving and contribution records makes that transition easier to explain and resolve.
