Responsibilities in the Job

As a Technical Associate/Scientist I in the ARD (NMR) Department, you will play a key role in supporting various R&D projects across USP’s labs. Below are the core responsibilities:

  1. Operation and Maintenance of NMR Equipment (60%)
    • Manage the 500 MHz NMR spectrometer for synthetic chemistry, biologics, and analytical labs.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 standards and interpret complex NMR spectra for sample characterization.
  2. Support Synthetic R&D Projects (15%)
    • Contribute to synthetic chemistry projects and ensure safety and ISO-9001 compliance within the lab environment.
    • Participate in audit preparations for ISO certification.
  3. Instrument Setup and Maintenance (10%)
    • Conduct IQ/OQ/PQ (Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification) of new instruments.
    • Handle lab materials procurement, including chemicals, glassware, and columns for ARD projects.
  4. ISO-9001 Certification and Audits (10%)
    • Engage actively in internal and external quality audits and address issues promptly.
    • Participate in cross-functional activities to improve lab processes.
  5. Diversity and Inclusion Practices (5%)
    • Promote and uphold Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging within the lab and organization.

Qualifications and Skills Required

USP seeks candidates with both technical expertise and interpersonal skills. Below are the core qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry or Organic Chemistry with 0-3 years of NMR experience.
  • Hands-on experience in NMR operations, data interpretation, and spectral analysis (NMR, Mass, IR).
  • Familiarity with GMP/GLP practices and ISO 17025 documentation standards.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of biological molecules (peptides, proteins, vaccines) is a plus.
  • Experience with solid-state NMR or multinuclear NMR techniques is desirable.
  • Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (ELN), Empower, or NuGenesis systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and time-management skills.
