Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist specializing in Upstream Cell Culture to join our Bioprocess Design Center in Hyderabad. This role focuses on developing and optimizing single-use bioreactor systems for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization
- Design and optimize upstream cell culture processes, including media formulation, feeding strategies, and bioreactor control parameters.
- Conduct small-scale, bench-scale, and pilot-scale experiments to enhance cell growth, productivity, and product quality.
- Evaluate and implement single-use bioreactor technologies to improve process efficiency and flexibility.
Technology Transfer & Scale-Up
- Lead upstream process technology transfer to clinical and commercial manufacturing scales.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, and process documentation for scale-up activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure seamless implementation of upstream processes.
Data Analysis & Documentation
- Analyze experimental data to assess process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Maintain accurate records in electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with downstream processing, analytical development, and quality assurance teams to ensure end-to-end biomanufacturing success.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
- Support troubleshooting of upstream-related challenges in production.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on advancements in cell culture technologies and single-use bioprocessing.
- Implement innovative approaches to enhance process scalability and sustainability.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Bioprocess Design Center.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
Experience
- 3+ years in upstream process development for biologics (mammalian or microbial cell culture).
- Hands-on experience with single-use bioreactor systems (preferred).
- Knowledge of fed-batch, perfusion, and continuous culture processes.
- Familiarity with bioreactor design, process control strategies, and analytical tools.
- Understanding of cGMP guidelines, regulatory standards, and technology transfer.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in cell line development and characterization.
- Knowledge of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and data-driven optimization tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (English proficiency required).
