Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Evaluating incoming communications for potential adverse event reports received through phone, email, fax, social media, and local intake systems.
- Processing and medically reviewing adverse event cases for seriousness assessment and expedited reporting requirements.
- Reporting safety cases to regulatory authorities including FDA and Health Canada within specified timelines.
- Managing daily pharmacovigilance queries and ensuring timely responses.
- Processing literature-based adverse event cases and maintaining tracking databases.
- Performing follow-up activities for adverse event reports.
- Ensuring collection and receipt of adverse events from marketing programs.
- Supporting internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities.
- Conducting adverse event trend analysis and preparing quarterly safety reports.
- Preparing Annual Summary Reports for products marketed in Canada.
- Performing reconciliation activities related to product quality complaints and partner safety reports.
- Conducting monthly Health Canada adverse event searches within the safety database.
- Supporting additional pharmacovigilance and drug safety activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:
- BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
- MDS (Master of Dental Surgery)
- M.Pharm (Master of Pharmacy)
Healthcare professionals with relevant certifications and pharmacovigilance expertise may also be considered.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Pharmacovigilance or Drug Safety.
- Experience in post-marketing safety surveillance.
- Exposure to regulatory reporting requirements.
Essential Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of FDA and Health Canada pharmacovigilance regulations.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and MedDRA coding.
- Experience with safety databases such as Argus or similar pharmacovigilance systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to review scientific literature and technical publications.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with adverse event case processing and regulatory submissions.
