For a salaried employee, a useful credit card should fit existing spending and be affordable after fees. The card with the largest headline reward is not automatically the best choice. Start with the amount you can repay in full each month, then compare the categories in which you already spend.
Credit-card net-value calculator
Test one eligible reward category using your actual spending and the card terms. The default numbers are an illustration, not a product offer.
Monthly value = the lower of spend × rate and the cap entered; annual value assumes 12 identical months. Subtract actual annual costs. Convert points into rupee value before entering a rate. Shared caps, merchant exclusions, refunds, minimum redemption rules and different category rates require separate adjustments. A fee waiver must be confirmed before entering a zero fee.

Four options to investigate
Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card is a possible shortlist option for eligible Amazon users. Its official page lists no joining or annual fee, but application access and underwriting still apply. Read the current exclusions and understand that reward value is delivered through the programme, not necessarily as money in your salary account.
HDFC Bank Millennia is worth checking if its eligible merchants match your spending. CASHBACK SBI Card is another option for qualifying online purchases. Axis Bank ACE may suit eligible bill-payment and everyday categories. Each has its own fees, caps, exclusions and application criteria. These are researched examples, not a claim that we tested every Indian card.

Calculate value after costs
Use this comparison: eligible rewards minus annual fee, applicable taxes and redemption costs. Keep borrowing costs separate: if you carry debt, interest can outweigh the reward. Exclude spending that does not earn points, and use the actual monthly cap rather than multiplying the headline rate across your whole budget.
For illustration, ₹10,000 of eligible monthly purchases at an assumed 1% return produces ₹1,200 a year before fees. If annual costs were ₹600, the net benefit would be ₹600. Those are invented comparison inputs, not a quotation for any card above. Use your own statements to repeat the calculation.
Apply deliberately
Check the issuer's official eligibility and Most Important Terms and Conditions before applying. Salary credits may help an issuer assess an application, but a salary account does not guarantee approval, a credit limit or a lifetime-free offer. A corporate offer should be confirmed in writing for the exact card.
Use the official product links to check eligibility or apply. Choose one suitable application rather than submitting several speculative requests. If you cannot reliably pay the total bill, improving cash flow is more useful than collecting reward points.
