Position: Information Scientist – Markush
The Information Scientist will work with chemical structure data from patent publications and contribute to the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Content Collection. The position involves identifying, analyzing, and curating Markush structures used in patents to represent a broad range of chemical compounds through a generic structure and variable substituents.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and collect chemical structure data disclosed in patent publications.
- Curate high-quality scientific and chemical information for the CAS Content Collection.
- Capture Markush structures representing multiple possible chemical compounds within patent claims.
- Apply organic chemistry knowledge, analytical skills, and logical reasoning to scientific data curation.
- Contribute scientific and content knowledge, insights, and solutions to other CAS functions when required.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates applying for the Information Scientist – Markush position should meet the following requirements:
- MSc in Organic Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Strong scientific reading comprehension and writing skills.
