MSD is hiring a Specialist, Data Stewardship for its Hyderabad Tech Center at Hitec City, Raidurg, Telangana. This full-time role supports global Manufacturing and Supply Chain master data processes in a technology-driven, data-led biopharma environment. The position follows a hybrid working model, with 3 days per week in office and 2 days remote. Candidates are expected to reside within commuting distance of the Hyderabad office.

The role is suitable for professionals with hands-on experience in master data management, SAP master data, data stewardship, or supply chain operations. The selected candidate will contribute to accurate, compliant, and timely master data execution that supports manufacturing and supply chain outcomes for medicines, vaccines, and animal health products.

Role Overview

The Specialist, Data Stewardship will be responsible for the creation, extension, update, maintenance, accuracy, and compliant execution of master data supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain operations. This is a global role that requires close collaboration with Data Steward Leads, ISO Stewards, Supply Chain stakeholders, and other business partners.

The position involves executing master data requests in line with global SOPs, work instructions, data standards, controls, and business requirements. The role requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to understand how master data changes affect downstream business processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute master data creation, extension, update, and maintenance activities for Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes.
• Perform first-time material code creation, changes, and extensions, including required pre-checks and validation activities.
• Evaluate appropriate parameters and data sets for compliant and error-free master data changes within SAP ECC and SAP S/4.
• Ensure required information, prerequisites, documentation, and approvals are available before executing master data changes.
• Execute all activities according to global SOPs, work instructions, data standards, and established controls.
• Maintain complete and accurate evidence and documentation for all master data changes performed.
• Understand divisional requirements, business guidelines, and dependencies between master data elements and downstream processes.
• Work with Data Steward Leads, ISO Stewards, Supply Chain stakeholders, and other teams to clarify requirements and ensure consistent execution.
• Identify incomplete, conflicting, or unclear requests and engage or escalate to the appropriate stakeholder.
• Apply master data standards consistently across supported processes, locations, and business areas.
• Perform proactive data accuracy checks and analysis to identify incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent master data.
• Support investigation and correction of identified master data issues.
• Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, standardize, and improve master data processes.
• Support Supply Chain projects and business initiatives requiring master data creation, changes, extensions, or validation.
• Support Material Master Data change-control activities, including approvals, execution, documentation, and follow-up.
• Monitor relevant data reports and activities to help ensure records remain appropriately synchronized.
• Support testing and introduction of new or enhanced technology capabilities within Master Data Management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience Required

• 2-3 years of experience in master data management, data stewardship, SAP master data, Supply Chain, or related operational roles.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Strong practical knowledge of SAP master data processes, preferably SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4.
• Strong hands-on experience in master data creation, maintenance, extension, and change activities.
• Good understanding of Material Master Data and its role within Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to execute complex data activities accurately and consistently.
• Ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand master data dependencies and the downstream impact of data changes.
• Strong stakeholder collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed environment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Understanding of GxP principles and controlled working practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
• Experience supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain master data processes.
• Experience with DSP, Syniti, or similar master data tools.
• Experience supporting Supply Chain projects, product introductions, or network changes.
• Familiarity with master data governance and stewardship operating models.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, or synchronization activities.
