Position: Medical Coding Trainee
The Medical Coding Trainee will review medical documents, extract relevant medical information, and accurately assign CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 codes based on medical documentation and applicable coding requirements.
Responsibilities
- Identify providers from medical documents and accurately enter relevant information into the system.
- Understand and apply coding requirements based on payer, client, and state-specific guidelines.
- Ensure the number of charts processed matches the charts received from clients.
- Perform denial follow-up and appeals processing when required.
- Receive and review charge documents from various sites.
- Validate that charge information is complete and accurate.
- Abstract CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM / ICD-10 codes from medical records.
- Interpret medical documentation to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
