Roles and Responsibilities
As an Executive or Senior Executive in Downstream Biotech Production, you will play a critical role in the purification and processing stages of biopharmaceutical products. Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining downstream equipment such as chromatography systems, filtration units, ultrafiltration/diafiltration setups, and viral inactivation processes.
- Executing purification protocols for monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, or other biologics in compliance with cGMP standards.
- Monitoring process parameters, troubleshooting deviations, and ensuring batch-to-batch consistency.
- Participating in technology transfer, scale-up activities, and process optimization for downstream operations.
- Collaborating with upstream, quality assurance, and validation teams to support manufacturing campaigns.
- Maintaining detailed documentation, including batch records, SOPs, and deviation reports.
- Ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory (USFDA, CDSCO, etc.), and environmental guidelines in a cleanroom environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or related life sciences field.
- Proven hands-on experience (6-10 years) in downstream processing within a biologics or biopharma manufacturing setup.
- Strong knowledge of purification techniques including affinity, ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, viral filtration, and formulation.
- Familiarity with automated systems (e.g., AKTA, single-use technologies) and process analytical tools.
- Excellent understanding of GMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements for biologics.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in shifts if required.
