The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) (IIT BHU) is offering an exciting research opportunity funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). We are looking for a Research Scientist/Postdoc to contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on developing innovative materials for cell-based therapies and novel hydrogels. Position Details:

  • Designation: Research Scientist/Postdoc
  • Salary: ₹66,080/- per month (inclusive of HRA)
  • Tenure: 1 year (extendable up to 3 years)
  • Potential Start Date: First quarter of 2025 (tentative)

Required Qualifications and Academic Background

  • Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry with a Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Science, Pharmaceutics, or Organic Chemistry.
  • Work Experience: 0-2 years (excluding time spent earning a Ph.D.).

Key Skills and Expertise

  • Synthesis Expertise: Strong background in synthesizing small molecules and conducting polymer conjugation.
  • Characterization Proficiency: Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) and Mass Spectrometry.
  • Materials Characterization: Familiarity with techniques for characterizing materials and their properties.
  • Advantageous Skills: Experience with cell culture techniques is a valuable asset.

Project Focus

The appointed Research Scientist/Postdoc will work on the following projects:

  1. Development of Immunoprotective Small Molecules Modified Hydrogels for Cell-Based Therapies in Genetic Disorders: This project aims to create hydrogels that can support cell-based therapies by providing immunoprotection for improved treatment of genetic disorders.
  2. Synthesis and High-Throughput Screening of Novel Antifibrotic Hydrogels and Implants: This project will focus on synthesizing and evaluating novel hydrogels and implants designed to prevent or minimize fibrotic responses in medical applications.
