We are seeking a dynamic Associate to join our Intellectual Property Management (IPM) Team. The role focuses on identifying potential blocking IPs for products, processes, and formulations, preparing non-infringement opinions, and facilitating the development of alternate processes/formulations. The position also involves driving the filing and prosecution of patent applications, enabling early product launches in regulated and key emerging markets.
Roles & Responsibilities
- IP Identification: Identify potential blocking IPs on in-house development processes/formulations.
- Database Management: Maintain a database of all 3rd party IPs that might block product launches.
- R&D Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D team to develop alternate processes/formulations.
- Opinion Preparation: Prepare non-infringement and infringement opinions by analyzing in-house processes/formulations against 3rd party patents.
- Patent Filing: Identify potential inventions, perform patentability searches, and draft and file provisional patent applications (India, US, EU, and selected Emerging Markets).
- Patent Prosecution: Respond to objections raised by various patent offices and prepare defense strategies for in-house filings.
- Search Strategy: Design and implement search strategies to identify relevant patents and applications, preparing detailed landscape and freedom-to-operate reports.
- Invalidation Grounds: Develop invalidation grounds and provide supporting documents and prior-art to the invalidation team.
Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: Master’s or Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences.
- Experience:
- Master’s: 5-6 years of experience in handling biopharmaceutical IP issues.
- Ph.D.: 2-3 years of experience in handling biopharmaceutical IP issues.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the biotechnology industry, including processes, technologies, and market dynamics.
- In-depth understanding of IP laws worldwide, particularly patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Proficiency in interpreting IP laws, especially related to patent litigations.
