Role Overview
Optum is seeking skilled Medical Coding Analysts in Chennai to join its growing healthcare operations team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your coding expertise in ICD-10 and PCS systems, while contributing to global healthcare improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical records using ICD-10 and PCS, ensuring compliance with SLA standards.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.
- Identify and report discrepancies in medical data for review.
- Meet productivity, accuracy, and turnaround targets.
- Ensure discharge dispositions comply with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations.
- Apply AHA-approved coding conventions for inpatient and outpatient encounters.
- Maintain compliance with Optum’s company policies and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Education:

- Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences or Allied Medicine (BAMS, BHMS, BPT, BDS, B.Pharm, Nursing, etc.)
Certification:
- Certified Coder – AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P)
Experience:
- Minimum 1+ years in Acute Surgery or Emergency Department (ED) coding
- Strong understanding of Human Anatomy, Medical Terminology, and Diagnosis Coding
- Excellent English communication and analytical skills
