Job Description: Process Engineer – Crystallization R&D

As a Process Engineer specializing in crystallization, you will play a pivotal role in our R&D efforts, contributing to the development and optimization of crystallization processes for pharmaceutical and fine chemical products. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Process Development and Optimization: Designing, implementing, and optimizing crystallization processes, focusing on yield, purity, and particle size distribution. This involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, and proposing process improvements.
  • Scale-up and Technology Transfer: Scaling up laboratory-scale processes to pilot plant and eventually manufacturing scales. This includes working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
  • Process Modeling and Simulation: Utilizing advanced software and techniques to model and simulate crystallization processes, predicting process behavior and optimizing operating parameters.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving process challenges, implementing corrective actions, and improving process robustness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of experimental procedures, data, and results. Preparing technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including chemists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel. Effectively communicating technical information both verbally and in writing.
  • Staying Current with Industry Trends: Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in crystallization technology and sustainable manufacturing practices. Contributing to the development of innovative solutions.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or fine chemicals industry, with a strong focus on crystallization. Experience with scale-up and technology transfer is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in process engineering principles, crystallization techniques, and data analysis. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, gPROMS) is a significant advantage. Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques is also beneficial.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. A proactive and results-oriented approach to problem-solving is critical.
