The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, has announced a recruitment drive for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) under the ICMR-funded project titled “Personalized Mitochondria as a Therapeutic Vehicle: An Organelle Mediated Gene Delivery Platform for the Treatment of Alzheimer Diseases.”
This project offers an exciting opportunity for Life Science graduates, PhD holders, and Bioinformatics professionals with expertise in genome and NGS data analysis to contribute to cutting-edge neurological research.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
- Work on whole mitochondrial genome, whole exome sequencing (WES), and transcriptomic datasets.
- Collaborate with scientists from NIMHANS and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT).
- Manage and interpret large-scale genomic data for Alzheimer’s research.
- Prepare detailed scientific reports and assist in publications.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must possess one of the following:
- First class M.Sc. in Life Sciences with strong background in genome analysis, or
- Ph.D. in Life/Biological Sciences with relevant genome experience, or
- First class B.Tech/M.Tech with 3 years of experience in genome analysis.
Desired Skills:
- Expertise in NGS data interpretation
- Hands-on experience in mitochondrial genome, WES, and transcriptomics
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and data visualization
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: ₹56,000/- + 30% HRA per month
- Employment Type: Full-time, Contractual (initially 6 months, extendable up to 2 years based on performance)
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years
- Work Location: NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Karnataka
