Role Overview: Medical Data Abstractor (Contract)
As part of the Oncology Clinical team, the Medical Data Abstractor will support oncology data dictionary development, data curation, abstraction workflows, and clinical trial study builds. The role requires strong knowledge of oncology disease states and hands-on experience with EMR review.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen patient cases for eligibility across multiple oncology clinical trials using trial-specific inclusion/exclusion criteria.
- Interpret diagnostic, pathology, imaging, and clinical reports for accurate, protocol-aligned data extraction.
- Abstract and categorize clinical data—adverse events, medications, hospitalizations—into electronic systems with high accuracy.
- Serve as an oncology subject matter expert across solid and hematologic malignancies.
- Maintain detailed understanding of cancer trial designs and data requirements.
- Build and maintain study-specific data libraries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ontology, data workflows, and project goals.
- Participate in QC checks, second-level reviews, and eligibility assessment tasks.
- Provide mentorship and knowledge sharing to Data Abstractors.
- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, privacy regulations, and site compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in clinical data abstraction or medical record review.
- Strong clinical knowledge of chronic disease states and medical terminology.
- Deep understanding of oncology across diagnosis, staging, treatment, and follow-up.
- Experience working with clinical research datasets, especially oncology trials.
