Job Description: Scientist I, Molecular Biology
About the Team (Antibody Team)
The Antibody Team at Thermo Fisher Scientific focuses on engineering and developing high-quality, specific antibodies. The team engages in:
- Antibody design, development, and purification
- Conjugation and testing in immunoassays
- Product development for research applications
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct molecular biology experiments (PCR, cloning, RNA/DNA extraction).
- Use bioinformatics tools (BLAST, sequence analysis, vector design).
- Work with protein purification, ELISA, Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry.
- Maintain detailed lab records and data documentation.
- Stay updated with latest advancements in antibody development.
- Present findings in team meetings and reports.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree (0-3 years exp.) or PhD (submitted within last year) in:
- Molecular Biology
- Immunology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
Preferred Skills
✅ Experience in NGS, single-cell workflows, display technologies (desirable).
✅ Knowledge of antibody conjugation & immunoassays (a plus).
✅ Proficiency in SnapGene, CLC Workbench, Geneious.
✅ Strong statistical analysis (Prism, Excel).
✅ Excellent communication & teamwork skills.
Work Environment
- Laboratory setting with hazardous materials.
- Cold room/freezers (-22°F/-6°C).
- PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat).
