What You Will Do
As a Scientist – Toxicology & Clinical Safety, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of consumer products. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting toxicology risk assessments for ingredients, finished products, impurities, and degradants.
- Performing literature reviews and preparing toxicology profiles for hazard assessments.
- Evaluating skin tolerance of cosmetic ingredients and products from preclinical and clinical perspectives.
- Reviewing and interpreting clinical skin safety studies (e.g., patch tests, phototoxicity, irritation, and sensitization studies).
- Qualifying packaging materials for consumer healthcare products.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance for product safety submissions.
This role does not involve laboratory work but focuses on data interpretation, study monitoring, and collaboration with third-party contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Toxicology Risk Assessment: Conduct safety evaluations for raw materials and formulations, including Margin of Safety (MOS) calculations.
- Clinical Safety Evaluation: Assess skin tolerance and review clinical studies for product safety.
- Packaging Safety: Perform risk assessments for packaging materials used in consumer products.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all safety assessments meet global regulatory requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain records via the product safety & compliance SharePoint site.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree/Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a relevant science discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in consumer product risk assessment, toxicology, or clinical safety (skin tolerance).
- Knowledge of dermal clinical study practices and guidelines.
- Familiarity with in silico toxicity predictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for product safety submissions.
- Experience in medical writing.
