As a Drug Inspector, you will be responsible for enforcing pharmaceutical laws and safeguarding public health through strict regulatory oversight.

Key Duties Include:

  • Inspect pharmaceutical manufacturing units, pharmacies, and distributors.
  • Ensure compliance with the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules.
  • Draw drug samples for testing to detect substandard or spurious medicines.
  • Investigate complaints, violations, raids, and initiate legal proceedings when required.
  • Issue, renew, suspend, or cancel licenses for manufacture, sale, and distribution of drugs.
  • Monitor storage conditions, labeling, and advertising of medicines.

Authorization for Schedule-C Drugs:

To inspect Schedule-C drugs (biologics, vaccines, sera), inspectors must have:

  • 18 months experience in manufacturing/testing at least one Schedule-C drug OR
  • 3 years experience inspecting Schedule-C manufacturing units.
