Responsibilities in the Clinical Data Specialist Role

As a Clinical Data Specialist at IQVIA, your responsibilities include supporting the Clinical Data Management (CDM) team in providing efficient, high-quality data management services. Some of the key duties in this role are:

  • Data Operations Coordinator (DOC): Serve as a DOC for protocols with fewer than 5 operations staff or up to 15+ moderately complex central laboratory studies.
  • Leadership Support: Undertake leadership activities, including database testing, data review, clarifications, and audits under the guidance of the Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) or Data Team Lead (DTL).
  • Database Management: Develop and test databases and editing specifications to ensure seamless data flow and compliance with protocols.
  • Clinical Data Coding: Conduct clinical data coding while adhering to established operating procedures and instructions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective working relationships with team members, managers, and clients to ensure smooth data management processes.

Qualifications for the Clinical Data Specialist Role

To qualify for this position, you need to meet the following educational and professional requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in clinical, biological, mathematical sciences, or a related field is required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
  • Experience: A background in medical terminology and previous exposure to clinical data management is advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and computer skills are essential. Attention to detail, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationships are crucial for success in this role.
