Responsibilities of an Assistant SAS Programmer
As an Assistant SAS Programmer at ICON, you will play a critical role in supporting the programming and statistical analysis of clinical trial data. Your key responsibilities include:
- Developing SAS Programs: Create and execute SAS programs to generate SDTMs, analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures as per the Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP).
- Annotating Shells: Annotate table and listing shells based on analysis dataset specifications.
- Project Tracking: Set up spreadsheets and prepare input files with appropriate headers and footers for project tracking.
- Producing Safety Listings: Write programs to generate safety listings and replicate statistical tables.
- Code Validation: Review and validate your own code and output using departmental quality checklists.
- Issue Escalation: Identify and escalate data issues or specification concerns to the project team.
- Team Collaboration: Attend project team meetings and stay informed about study status and communication.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate study documentation in line with ICON’s policies.
- Process Improvement: Support initiatives to enhance efficiency and deliver value to clients.
- Compliance: Adhere to all required training and documentation standards.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Education: BTech, MTech, MCA, or MSc in Computer Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Data Analytics.
- SAS Experience: Hands-on exposure to SAS through certification, internship, or structured training in a multinational company (MNC).
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of R is a plus but not mandatory.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in data handling and programming.
- Communication: Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in team settings.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Clinical Research Knowledge: Familiarity with clinical research data and terminology is desirable but not required.
