Key Responsibilities: R&D Scientist (Upstream Process Development)
This role demands a highly motivated and experienced individual with a proven track record in upstream process development within the biopharmaceutical industry. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Mammalian Cell Culture Expertise: Design, execute, and optimize upstream processes utilizing mammalian cell culture techniques. This involves a deep understanding of cell growth kinetics, media optimization, and process control strategies.
- Scale-up and Process Development: Manage and execute experiments using various bioreactor systems, ranging from shake flasks to 20L bioreactors, demonstrating a strong understanding of scale-up principles and methodologies.
- Advanced Technology Implementation: Proficiently utilize advanced process analytical technologies (PAT) systems, such as ATF (Automated Transfer Function) systems, for continuous monitoring, data analysis, and process improvement.
- Technology Transfer: Actively participate in the seamless transfer of developed processes to pilot and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) manufacturing facilities, ensuring consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.
- Cell Bank Management: Manage and maintain Master and Working Cell Banks adhering to strict quality control measures and documentation procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Meticulously document experimental procedures, results, and analysis in compliance with established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all relevant regulatory guidelines. Maintain rigorous adherence to safety protocols within the laboratory environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 3-12 years of experience in upstream process development within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- A strong academic background in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, ideally holding a Master’s degree or PhD.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, including cell line development, media optimization, and process scale-up.
- Proven expertise in operating and maintaining various bioreactor systems.
- Practical experience with PAT systems and data analysis software is essential.
- A thorough understanding of GMP guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
