Key Responsibilities โ Competitive Intelligence Associate
As a CI Associate, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with internal project teams to define and prioritize research objectives
- Working closely with clients to clarify goals, present insights, and support strategic decisions
- Conducting secondary research and market intelligence analysis, including:
- Tracking competitors, pipeline assets, marketed products, and deal activity
- Monitoring clinical trials, regulatory milestones, launch timelines, and catalysts
- Analyzing epidemiology, market dynamics, and company strategies
- Developing company profiles, drug profiles, and market landscapes
- Creating daily, weekly, and monthly CI newsletters with clear strategic implications
- Tracking investor communications such as annual reports, SEC filings, and investor presentations
- Attending 4โ5 major medical conferences annually (primarily in North America) to:
- Cover scientific sessions
- Conduct primary research
- Deliver post-conference competitive intelligence reports
- Translating complex findings into actionable recommendations using structured CI frameworks
- Leveraging CI platforms such as AlphaSense, Pharmatell, Citeline, and similar tools
- Supporting ad-hoc deep-dive analyses to identify emerging trends and risks
- Sharing insights through formal presentations and informal knowledge-sharing sessions
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education
- Bachelorโs or Masterโs degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related discipline
- MBA candidates with relevant pharma experience are also eligible
Experience
- 2โ3 years of professional experience in:
- Pharmaceutical competitive intelligence
- Consulting, strategy, or analytics roles
- Prior exposure to CI or strategic research is strongly preferred
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Citeline, AlphaSense, Pharmatell, or similar CI databases
- Familiarity with FDA, EMA, Health Canada, and other regulatory websites
- Strong analytical thinking and insight generation capability
