🧪 Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ Product & Technology Development
- Design and develop microfluidic cartridges and chips for Point-of-Care (PoC) diagnostic systems.
- Perform CAD modeling and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Work on microscale fluid mechanics including laminar flow, capillary flow, mixing, and reagent storage.
- Select materials such as PDMS, COC, PMMA, glass for microfluidic substrates.
2️⃣ Experimental & Validation Activities
- Conduct microfluidic characterization experiments:
- Flow rate
- Pressure drop
- Leakage testing
- Bubble formation
- Develop device validation protocols.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement design improvements.
3️⃣ Prototyping & Fabrication
Hands-on exposure to:
- Soft lithography
- Laser micromachining
- Micro-milling
- Injection molding (preferred)
- 3D printing for rapid prototyping
4️⃣ Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with biology, chemistry, electronics, and manufacturing teams.
- Support prototype transfer into pilot manufacturing.
5️⃣ Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain Design History Files (DHF).
- Prepare engineering documentation and test reports.
- Follow ISO 13485 medical device quality standards.
- Support verification, validation, and regulatory documentation.
🎓 Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Microfluidics / Biotechnology
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and transport phenomena.
- Proficiency in CAD tools:
- SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / Creo
- Basic lab skills:
- Microscopy
- Pump systems
- Pressure control systems
- Data analysis using:
- MATLAB / Python / Origin / Excel
⭐ Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Exposure to Point-of-Care diagnostics development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of surface chemistry & biofunctionalization.
- Experience with simulation tools:
- COMSOL Multiphysics
- ANSYS Fluent
