Associate Scientist – Pfizer | M.Sc Chemistry

Global pharmaceutical leader Pfizer is hiring an Associate Scientist – Research & Development in Chennai, India. This opportunity is ideal for M.Sc Chemistry graduates with 1–2 years of industrial experience in chemical synthesis, API process development, route scouting, and scale-up support.

🔬 Key Responsibilities – Associate Scientist (R&D)

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and executing laboratory experiments as per SOPs and defined procedures
  • Interpreting experimental results and proposing process improvements
  • Preparing detailed technical reports and updating project status
  • Supporting documentation activities with Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Adhering to Non-GMP/cGMP procedures
  • Following EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines
  • Performing literature searches for alternative synthesis routes (API, intermediates, impurities)
  • Supporting Technology Transfer (TT) to manufacturing plants
  • Assisting during scale-up activities and resolving process-related challenges
  • Collaborating with MS&T and cross-functional R&D teams

This role provides hands-on exposure to process chemistry, route scouting, impurity handling, and scalable process development.


🎓 Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • M.Sc. in Chemistry (Mandatory)

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of industrial experience in chemical synthesis preferred
  • Experience in:
    • Laboratory-scale reactions
    • Process optimization
    • Data documentation
    • EHS compliance
    • Non-GMP/cGMP practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of API synthesis and impurity profiling
  • Exposure to scale-up or technology transfer
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency

💰 Salary (Estimated)

Based on industry benchmarks for Associate Scientist roles in pharmaceutical R&D:
