Roles & Responsibilities
Biotechnology IP & Technical Support
- Provide IP support for biologics programs, especially monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)
- Work on upstream (cell line development, fermentation) and downstream (purification, filtration) processes
- Collaborate with R&D and biologics teams to capture inventions
Freedom to Operate (FTO) & Risk Assessment
- Conduct FTO searches for biologics and biosimilars
- Identify blocking patents and evaluate claim scope
- Assist in preparing FTO reports and claim charts
Patent Landscaping & Competitive Intelligence
- Perform patent landscape analysis in biologics and biosimilars
- Monitor competitor filings across US, EU, and India
- Support IP strategy and lifecycle management
Sequence Search & Bioinformatics Analysis
- Conduct DNA, RNA, and protein sequence searches
- Use tools like BLAST for:
- Patentability analysis
- Prior art identification
- FTO support
Patent Drafting & Prosecution Support
- Assist in drafting patent specifications
- Support office action responses and examiner interactions
- Coordinate patent filings across multiple jurisdictions
IP Portfolio Management
- Maintain IP documentation and records
- Support audits and internal reporting
- Collaborate with regulatory and business teams
Required Qualifications
Education
- M.Tech / M.Sc. in Biotechnology or related field
- Specialization in bioprocessing, biologics, or molecular biology preferred
Experience
- 2โ3 years in biotechnology IP (law firm or pharma/biotech company)
- Experience in FTO, patent landscaping, and sequence analysis
- Exposure to US, EU, and Indian patent systems
Required Skills & Knowledge
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of monoclonal antibodies
- Knowledge of upstream and downstream bioprocessing
- Familiarity with purification techniques like chromatography
