Responsibilities of the Associate Database Developer
As an Associate Database Developer at Premier Research, you will play a critical role in designing and managing clinical trial databases. Your key responsibilities include:
- Designing Electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs): Create eCRFs based on finalized protocols and study design specifications for Electronic Data Capture (EDC) studies.
- Building Data Entry Screens: Develop data entry screens for paper-based studies, aligning with approved annotated Case Report Forms (CRFs).
- Collaborating with Teams: Work closely with data management and study management teams during study start-up to meet project needs.
- Developing Clinical Databases: Design, build, and test clinical databases in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Programming and Validation: Program field derivations, edit checks, consistency checks, validations, procedures, and rules to ensure data accuracy.
- Data Extraction and Reporting: Write data extraction programs and develop study reporting environments, including CRF and non-CRF data, transforming data into required reporting formats.
- Maintaining Documentation: Ensure database documentation is maintained for the Trial Master File (TMF).
- Defining Technical Elements: Collaborate with sponsors and study teams to define technical components of the Data Management Plan.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) from an accredited institution, preferably in a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience: 0–3 years of practical experience with commercial clinical data management systems or EDC products (e.g., Oracle RDC/Inform, Medidata Rave, DataLabs). Alternatively, proven expertise in all primary job functions.
- SQL Programming: 1–2 years of SQL programming experience is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and Organizational Skills: Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with drug development and clinical trial processes is preferred.
- Customer Focus: Proven ability to deliver a positive customer experience through quality deliverables and task ownership.
