Key Responsibilities

As a Safety Evaluation Scientist at GSK, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring drug safety through pharmacovigilance (PV) activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Literature Surveillance: Screen and review scientific literature (articles, abstracts, citations) for inclusion in aggregate reports and identification of potential safety signals.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned products to support accurate literature evaluation.
  • Signal Detection: Analyze and discuss safety data with SERM product specialists and physicians, escalating findings as needed.
  • Documentation: Document outcomes of signal detection processes and maintain compliance with pharmacovigilance regulations.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous process improvement and quality assurance activities related to pharmacovigilance.
  • Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams to discuss safety data and contribute to risk management activities (RMPs), aggregate reports (DSURs, PBRERs), and labeling documents (GDS, DCSI).

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience: 3-6 years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in drug safety, regulatory affairs, clinical development, or medical affairs.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of post-marketing regulations, causality assessment, safety signal evaluation, and pharmacovigilance methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scientific literature review, data synthesis, and analysis. Familiarity with medical and drug terminology.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills, with strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • IT Proficiency: Comfortable working with web-based applications and IT tools.
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, ability to work independently, and a service-oriented mindset. Strong team player with flexibility to prioritize tasks.
