Job Description
As a Scientist in Upstream Cell Culture, you’ll leverage your extensive knowledge of mammalian, microbial, and other cell culture systems to design and optimize robust processes that contribute to biopharmaceutical product development. Your innovative approach will enhance our capabilities in upstream processing and ensure smooth transition from lab to clinical and commercial manufacturing scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize upstream cell culture processes, including media formulation and bioreactor control parameters.
- Conduct small-scale, bench-scale, and pilot-scale experiments to support process innovation and problem-solving.
- Integrate single-use bioreactor systems to enhance process efficiencies.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and perform technology transfer for scale-up activities.
- Analyze data to assess and improve process performance, ensuring compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including downstream processing and quality assurance, to ensure seamless workflow.
- Stay updated on advancements in cell culture technologies and bioprocessing methodologies.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or a related field focusing on cell culture.
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in upstream process development for biologics, particularly in mammalian or microbial cell culture systems.
Skills:
- Proficiency in single-use bioreactor systems.
- Familiarity with fed-batch, perfusion, and continuous culture processes.
- Strong understanding of bioreactor operation and process control strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Effective written and verbal communication capability for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of cGMP guidelines and experience in technology transfer is essential.
- Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects.
